Episode #78: Tributary – Bird Box

Hi everybody!  Welcome back to the Reel Film Nerds Podcast!  Today Matt’s backup mic is working great!  Overtime even because it literally picks up every sound in the room.  Today Mysterious Mike and Matt bring you a new Tributary cast with their review of Bird Box.  Off topic topics include a new segment what are you drinking, The Walking Dead, lack of time in our lives, and lastly the first RFN awards show!

Bird Box is basically a mash up between A Quiet Place (RFN Episode #10) and The Happening.  It is an incredible thrill ride from start to finish.  The acting is incredible especially by Sandra Bullock and John Malkovich but honestly when do they not shine?  The story is very good, and the sets look great.  I think this is starting to become an issue, but both of your hosts agree Bird Box has a great showing for Mike and an average showing for Matt with 3.5 out of 5 Reels!  This is a must see sci-fi thriller even if you do not have Netflix.  Just steal a friend or co-workers login and watch it.

Next week the guys plan on watching the new Keanu Reeves film Replicas and either Bomb City or You Were Never Really Here.  Both are currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.  Thanks for your continued support of our podcast.  We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoy recording it!  Chat with you next Tuesday!

Episode #65: Tributary – Outlaw King

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  We hope you are out catching a movie today.  Nothing better to do on a holiday then spend it with friends and family at the movie theater.  Today your hosts discuss a film that is not in a movie theater and you can watch it right now on Netflix the kinda sorta sequel to Braveheart titled Outlaw King.  Matt apologizes way ahead of time, but he really gets off topic bad talking about tablets and watching movies on airplanes.  Mysterious Mike joined in forgetting to stop him being off topic.  If you are interested in tech and tablets listen, if not feel free to fast forward.

Outlaw King is an amazing film with great cinematography and incredible makeup!  The stunts and gore are so good that some scenes will haunt you well after you finish watching the film.  The acting is superb especially from Chris Pine and new comer Rebecca Robin.  The sets wow they are incredible!  Mike really loved this film he thinks everyone should go watch it except the little ones.  It is a bit much for them.  He gives it 4 out of 5 Reels.  Matt enjoyed Outlaw King as well just not as much as Mike.  He agrees that it is well worth the 2-hour runtime.  Matt gives the Netflix original 3.5 out of 5 Reels.

Thanks for tuning in for another amazing episode of the Reel Film Nerds podcast!  Do us a favor and tell your friends, spread the love!  Don’t forget to subscribe and listen to our sister podcasts Rogues Radio, Code 3 Podcast, The Blue Milk Podcast, and The Mile High Show.  We will be back next Tuesday and Thursday to discuss two new films.  There are a ton of releases this week and your hosts are still arguing about what to review.  Talk at you on Tuesday!

Episode #39: Tributary – Mute

Welcome back to the unofficial Chipotle podcast!  Today your two hosts bust out with their second Tributary cast the Netflix original movie Mute.  This futuristic dystopian Sci-Fi thriller is very reminiscent of Blade Runner in scope and feel; it is not Blade Runner though.  The guys try something new trying to talk about the film without spoiling it for the first half of the pod and let loose and spoil everything for the second half.  We warn you many times so if you don’t want to hear it you can stop accordingly.  Do you like the new format?  Mike again brings up MoviePass and its impending demise.  The guys request some hate mail and hate comments but doubt they will get any.  Go ahead send us some especially to Mysterious Mike and Mike@ReelFilmNerds.com.  Lastly RFN can now be found on Spotify!!  There is no excuse not to subscribe!

Mute was a confusing badly written but beautifully filmed movie that you can probably skip unless you really need something to watch or you love Paul Rudd.  Mike gives it 2 out of 5 Reels.  Matt as always is more generous why, who knows maybe he is drunk again, he gives Mute 3 out of 5 Reels.  Thanks for listening and chat at you on Tuesday!

Episode #35: Tributary – Anon

Welcome listeners new and old (not physically) to our first Tributary cast!  A Tributary cast is a review of a movie only available on a streaming service such as Netflix, HBO Go, Amazon Prime, etc. This week Matt and Mike review a Netflix original Sci-Fi thriller Anon.  It is a fun trippy technology filled look into a dystopian future where privacy flat out doesn’t exist.  The guys dive deep on this topic, they both love tech but also see the coming storm and the end of privacy or what little we have left.  They also discuss augmented reality versus virtual reality and how close they are to becoming everyday tech.  Mike gets Matt going again about the death of MoviePass especially with their developments, price changes, and lack of blockbuster films new releases.  Things continue off topic for a bit with chat about TCL televisions, Roku vs Apple TV vs Fire Stick, and what is the best device to stream movies on.  Last but not least they guys discuss their new partnership with Prescott Valley based news organization SignalsAZ.com and how you can where you can find our podcast on their site.

Anon is a must-see thriller if you are into detective movies and technology.  Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried do a fantastic job. The sets are dark and gritty and the graphic overlays are just amazing!  Matt loved this movie he gives it 4 out of 5 Reels.  Mike enjoyed the film as well but like always he is more critical then Matt.  He gives Anon 3.5 out of 5 Reels.
