Welcome back horror fans! For our second installment of the 7th Annual Harvest Horror Fest we continue our tradition with a review of a Friday the 13th slasher flick. This year though we really regret reviewing Friday the 13th: A New Beginning. Topics better than this film include the new movie Saturday Night, port-o-john singing, and a new giveaway for you!

For our third installment of the 7th Annual HHF we hit the theaters to check out Smile 2 starring Naomi Scott and Kyle Gallner. Don’t forget to stay to the end for Ma Hinshaw Loses Her Cookies Episode #85. Thank you for listening and we will chat with you next week!

Episode #345: Harvest Horror Fest – Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter

Welcome back everyone for our third pod of our 6th Annual Harvest Horror Fest. For our review today we keep the tradition alive with our re-watch of 1984 classic Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. Not slasher topics today include Ikea, Goonies, and dog and cat listeners, an untapped market.

For our fourth installment of our Harvest Horror Fest it is kind of Matt’s pick, Virus starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Sutherland. Don’t forget to stay for the end to hear Ma Hinshaw Loses Her Cookies Episode #34. Thank you for listening and we will chat with you next week!

Episode #295: Harvest Horror Fest – Friday the 13th Part III

All good and horror things must come to an end. Today is the end of our 5th Annual Harvest Horror Fest. For our last film we continue our tradition with Friday the 13th Part III. Not hockey mask related topics include dust spots, 3D for 3D sakes, and horror video games.

These movies just keep getting worse and worse and that’s hard to do! Friday the 13th Part III was an attempt to bring back 3D into the movie theaters. It might have been fun back in 1982 but it does not translate well today. There is just not a whole lot of substance to the story, the acting is really bad, and they don’t even shoot the film at Crystal Lake! There are bikers for some reason but plenty of blood and beast but what about our 3rd B? Nothing! There is maybe a little side boob but for the 80’s? Really? Side boob only? What a let down.

Your hosts differ a bit on this one. Mike really thought Friday the 13th Part III was a bad movie awarding it only 2 out of 5 Reels. Matt on the other hand thinks this movie is bad-good. Basically the movie is so bad that it is fun which makes it good, get all that? This is also the start of what we think of when we think of Jason and the Friday the 13th franchise. Matt awards the flick an average rating of 3 out of 5 Reels.

Next week Matt and Mike play catch up after a month of horror films. The guys head to the theaters to watch a film a couple of weeks old, Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson and Pierce Brosnan. Thanks for listening and we will chat with you next week!

Episode #192: Harvest Horror Fest – Friday the 13th (1980)

Welcome campers to our second pod of the Third Annual Harvest Horror Fest! Today the classic horror continues with one of Matt’s favorite horror films, yes Matt’s, Friday the 13th (1980). The boys stayed on point for most of the show but some extra topics include Halloween, gore in film, and horror films that scarred us for life.

Friday the 13th is an incredible film. It is not only a great horror flick but a great movie overall. The story is very creative, the cinematography is groundbreaking, and the make up, especially the gore, are great. The acting is very rough but it is definitely better than most of this franchise’s numerous sequels. Friday the 13th inspired a whole new sub-genre of horror, the summer camp slasher. This is a must see film for anyone that loves movies especially horror film buffs. Mike awards the slasher a near perfect score of 4.5 out of 5 Reels. Matt with the rare underscore only gives Friday the 13th 4 out of 5 reels. He immediately regretted it but stuck to his decision.

Next Wednesday we continue our Third Annual Harvest Horror Fest with another Matt pick but Mike loves this one too, the 1980’s vampire comedy The Lost Boys (1987) starring Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, and of course the two Coreys. Thanks for hanging out and listening to our slasher of a podcast. We will chat at you next week!
