Episode #324: Fast X

Hi kiddos and welcome to another RFN podcast. For Episode #324 the summer blockbusters keep on coming with Fast X starring Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jason Mamoa. Not family or car topics today include, is the MCU dead, AI is taking over, and Fast XXX.

Do you love nonsensical action, bad stories, and characters that never really die? Then Fast X is right up your alley! Just like the previous nine films Fast X is over the top action with a really strange plot and characters that are not needed (looking at you Brie Larson). Basically if you like this series up to this point you will love this film. If you are not a fan of Fast and Furious or insane fantasy action then you might as well skip this one. It can be a ton of fun if you know what you are in for before you sit down in your seat. The best part of Fast X is Jason Mamoa’s villain Dante. You can tell he is just really having a ball playing a psycho killer out for revenge. He is so over the top but it really works well.

Mike and Matt both agree this is not a must see film unless you love the Fast and Furious Franchise. Mike awards Fast X 2 out of 5 Reels. Matt just a smidge higher gives it 2.5 out of 5 Reels.

Next week the guys change it up a bit with a good old fashioned family comedy, About My Father. Don’t forget to stay for the end to hear Ma Hinshaw Loses Her Cookies Episode #14. Thank you for listening and we will chat with you next week!

Episode #322: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Well the time has come. We all knew this day would be here but I think we were all just in denial. For Episode 322 we chat about James Gunn’s last Marvel Cinematic Universe film, as of now, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 starring Chris Pratt, Chukwudi Iwuji, Bradley Cooper, and Karen Gillian. Not MCU topics today include golf, DCEU, and the Phoenix Suns.

Let’s not beat around the bush, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is an incredible film. It wraps up some of the most loved films of the MCU to date in a nice tight bow. James Gunn you will be missed sir but we will be looking forward to the work you create at DC. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the complete package. Great acting, fun story, great pacing, lots of humor, honestly there isn’t much missing from this film. Seriously, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the best MCU film since Spider-Man No Way Home and that’s a bold statement.

Mike, Matt and Ma agree you must see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in the theater. It is a great kickoff to the summer blockbuster season. This film is made to be seen on the biggest baddest screen available. Mike and Ma without hesitation give Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 a perfect score of 5 out of 5 Reels and Cookies. Matt on the other hand thinks not everyone can see this film, especially people who are sensitive to animal harm. He awards the film a near perfect score of 4.5 out of 5 Reels.

Next week there isn’t much hitting the theaters thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 so Mike, Matt, and Ma hit the streaming services to check out Ghosted starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas. Don’t forget to check out Ma Hinshaw Loses Her Cookies Episode #12 at the end of this incredible podcast. Thank you for listening and we will chat with you next week!

Episode #311: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

It’s here everyone! Our first Marvel Cinematic Universe film of 2023, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Man Marvel and Disney are just cranking these things out aren’t they? Additional topics today include where is Luis, MCU villains, and Mike’s likes it sloppy.

Going against the critics and keyboard warriors Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is not a horrible film. It is not amazing either like we have come to expect from the MCU. Ant-Man 3 is a fun blockbuster with a ton of faults. The introduction of Kang played by Jonathan Majors is probably the best part of the film. He is really going to be a great addition and villain for the MCU. The worst part of the film is that Disney did M.O.D.O.K. dirty! If you are a fan of M.O.D.O.K. you are going to hate him in this film. Also this whole dang movie is nothing but a CGI fest. Some of it is really great and some of it is really terrible. Is Ant-Man 3 worth a watch, yes but only if you like the MCU, blockbusters, or Paul Rudd. Mike and Matt agree Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania earns a palatable 2.5 out of 5 Reels.

Next week Ma, Matt, and Mike head to the theaters to watch a very interesting looking film loosely based on real life Cocaine Bear directed by Elizabeth Banks and starring Ray Liota. Thank you for listening and we will chat with you next week!
