Episode #27: Legacy – Spaceballs

Welcome moviephiles to new episode of the Reel Film Nerds!  Today we have an amazing Legacy Cast for you, Spaceballs!!  This movie was requested by Matt’s buddy and co-worker Derek Nanke, thanks Derek for the request!  Right off the bat things start to get crazy in this pod!  Matt talks about his dad taking him to see Spaceballs in the theater as a kid.  He also talks about Star Wars probably too much but how you can not right Spaceballs is 95% of a rip on Star Wars!  Mike explains where his obsession with male genitalia came from and how much fun he had watching this movie.  Matt typically watches it at least once a year but Mike has not seen Spaceballs in a very long time!  Sit back relax and grab a big glass of water to help with your 4th of July hangover because this is a long pod, almost a full hour!

Clearly Matt and Mike both love this movie without question.  Mike loved it a teensy bit more than Matt probably because he has not seen Spaceballs as an adult!  Mike hands out the very first perfect rating in the history of the Reel Film Nerds with a 5 out of 5 Reels!!!  Matt loves Spaceballs without question but he does not think it is perfect, damn close but not perfect.  He gives Spaceballs a 4.5 out of 5 Reels.  Thank you for subscribing and listening to our podcast!  We will talk at you next Tuesday with another Reel Film Nerds movie review!

Episode #21: Legacy – Predator

Hi everybody and welcome to another installment of the Reel Film Nerds! Bottom line up front, awesome legacy cast of a classic movie!  This week we review Predator (1987).  Spoiler alert, Mike and Matt both love this movie and have seen it many times!  Pay special attention to Matt’s random facts about this movie and find out about an interesting 80’s star who was originally cast as the Predator.  The guys also discuss many of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s classic quotes like “Get to the Chopper.”  Mike continues his rein of connecting our reviewed films to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Matt brings up an interesting topic of could this movie be made today and it is now a new segment for our Legacy Cast’s. Lastly the boys talk about the political correctness of society today along with snapdicks and tacograms!  What an episode!

Mike loves Predator like the child he never had and gives it a 4.5 out of 5 Reels.  Matt tried to keep nostalgia out of his rating and just go by the film’s merits and awarded it a 4 out of 5 Reels.  Thanks again for listening and we will chat at you real soon!

Episode #9: Legacy – Pee-wee’s Big Adventure

Episode 9 is a bit of a format change for us.  Mike is away working and attending a wedding, so Matt brought in our first guest and host of sister podcast The Mile High Show, Matt Santos.  Coincidentally it is also the first in our Legacy series of podcasts.  What’s Legacy you say well I will tell you.  Legacy is any film not currently in the box office at the time of the that episodes recording.  Typically, it will be at least a few years old but not always.  What was our pick for the first Legacy cast a nice gem of a classic Pee-wee’s Big Adventure!

Did we really talk almost an hour about Pee-Wee, no.  When the two Matt’s get together things typically get off topic very quickly.  Topics included baseball, photography, drive-in’s, Matt S’s Mom, and Citizen Kane.  This was a fun one to record but might not be a fun one to listen to.  If you skip it, we would understand.

Matt S. gave Pee-wee’s Big Adventure a 3.5 out of 5 Reels and your lone host and Matt gave it a 4 out of 5 Reels because he is super nostalgic.  Remember our podcasts are SPOILER RIDDEN!!

Pee-wee’s Big Adventure
